Not What is Pictured May 05, 2012
By Robnik1 Beware, The item pictured will not be the item sent. What is pictured is the powder, what is sent is the reagent. Description does not match pictured.

FAS-DPD titrating reagent. Sep 23, 2011

If you're looking at this product it's more than likely you need replacement reagent for your Taylor chlorine test kit.
Not much you can write in review as to the quality of the product. I find the Taylor FAS-DPD chlorine test to be the most accurate of all the lower level price point chlorine tests. I have found the test strips to right up there with useless other than a simple indicator of chlorine being present, but that's it. I find lower level colorimeters such as the AquaChek to be completely undependable if you're concerned about consistent accuracy. I haven't tried the Hanna Cl colorimeter, so I can't speak to that product. From here, the price soars in price to the $300 plus dollar Cl testers. And heck yes, if you have the extra green to buy the more expensive Cl testers, do. But if you're a retired budget minded shopper like I am, the FAS-DPD chlorine test kits hit the middle ground nicely.
A note to help make this product more cost efficient. The dropper tops of the 0.75oz bottle and the 2.0oz bottle are easily removed and are interchangeable. This allows for either of the bottles, after rinsing with distilled water, to easily be refilled. Taylor has larger 16oz bottles (R-0871-E) you can buy on Amazon. If once a year you buy a 16oz bottle to refill your kit bottle with, for the delivered price of a 16oz bottle, you'll save a huge amount over buying separate replacement bottles and never have to worry about running out during the pool/spa season. Once a year put in an order for a 16oz bottle and your titrating reagent will always be fresh as they have about a one years shelf life.
A second note, since this product is not available for Prime, two-day delivery, make sure you get your order in, in plenty of time so you don't run out. I didn't and ended up having to wait nine days before I could again properly test the spa water for chlorine.
Hope the above helps.

100% as described May 12, 2011
By jwsatte This is the 2oz version of the small R-0871 that comes with the Taylor test kits. Same great reagent, larger bottle.
Good price Feb 25, 2012
By Alpha 2 oz size for about the same price as a 0.75 oz bottle at the local pool store - good purchase.
